Scenic Overview

The Most Photogenic Leg of the Greenway

Widely celebrated as the most scenic stretch of the 42km Great Western Greenway, the Mulranny to Achill section follows the original path of the Midland Great Western Railway line, closed in 1937 and reopened as Ireland's premier traffic-free trail.

Departing Mulranny Station, you ride along an elevated view point looking out accross Bellacragher Bay, threading between dark peat boglands and coastal waters before reaching the Achill Island bridgehead.
